Non Natives (Residents) Welcome
The Inverness Laughing Society will meet for the first time on April 28 to, well, laugh. Participants can expect exercises such as "laughing like a cat would laugh," exchanges of silly puns, word games and role playing. The idea for the society came to Inverness resident Jane Vait after seeing the benefits laughter has on senior citizens at Stockstill House, where she works. "It created movement in a body that doesn't have a lot of movement left. I've seen it work magic with the residents," she said. Vait decided to form the society as a reaction to turmoil within the community. "Our community is just being mean," she said. The Laughter Society will meet on Wednesday, April 28 at 8:15 a.m. outside the Inverness Firehouse. The meeting will only last 15 minutes, so latecomers will miss the fun.
